In terms of portion sizes, are you eating because you are actually hungry or because you are bored, or because it tastes good? Either way, you should try to learn to know when to stop when you are satisfied, not full. I read an article about a year ago, discussing reasons why Japanese people are one of the most healthiest and one of the reasons being is because they eat until they are 4/10 full. They don’t eat until they can’t breathe anymore or until they’re about to explode…but until they are satisfied enough.
Try and incorporate lots of lean protein such as salmon, tuna, chicken breast because these help to keep you fuller for longer as proteins are the food group that take longest to digest. Stay away from processed products, meaning anything white, such as white bread, pasta, rice, etc. And include plenty of leafy greens such as broccoli as this has fibre, also prolonging how quickly you get hungry after a meal.
As for snacking, I think preparation is key! Prepare your snacks such as a trail mix, oatmeal bars, sliced fruit, etc, in little zip-lock bags and carry them around with you when you’re out so you’re not tempted to buy sugar/fat-loaded junk.
Good luck! x
